Merlot (5)
Alcohol: 14.50%
Type: Red

Winemaker's Notes:

Clare Valley Cabernet from the Armagh and Polish Valley sub-regions is consistently powerful and inky and can take some years to soften. O'Leary Walker has blended the wine to add mid-palate flesh and to tone down the strong, tannic structure. This wine maintains its Cabernet intensity on the nose exhibiting violets, spice and blueberry. The Merlot comes through on the palate displaying sweet, rich fruit with fine, long tannins. This is an immeasurably satisfying Cab-Merlot that is drinking well now but will age gracefully over 7-10 years with careful cellaring.

The Oleary Walker Blue Cutting Road Cabernet-Merlot has a gentle red color accented with ruby hints. Very much a fruit-driven wine, the nose is of ripe grape and cedar, followed by notes of mellow licorice and Turkish delight. On the palate this Cabernet-Merlot displays wonderfully balanced flavors of chocolate, tarry notes, powerful jujubes and blackcurrant fruit. The palate is layered and flavorsome with vibrant fruit characteristics, balanced with a finish displaying wonderful fine, long and cedar-oaky tannins.
