Winemaker's Notes:

The Semillon is harvested from old vines planted in deep alluvial gravelly sand at Pokolbin in the Lower Hunter Valley. It is the fine sandiness that makes the vineyard resource so significant. The vines, planted in the early 1970's, consistently produce the purest and brightest signatures of Hunter Semillon.

This Semillon is a very youthful and yet complex wine, following its varietal characteristics, offering fine lime and lemon aromas.

Light and elegant, the Semillon has long and delicate flavors, backed with soft persistence. Following the best traditions of the Hunter Valley, Keith Tulloch's Semillons are made for cellaring. The fine fruit, the elegant frame and the clean, long acidity give the potential for gradual development & maturation over the next decade. During this time the prime fruit will be enhanced by a delicate and honeyed complexity.

Very pale yellow color. Waxy yellow plum and poached pear aromas, perked up by white flowers and minerals. Firm and dry, offering classic citrus pith, mineral and honeycomb flavors and refreshingly bitter snap. Becomes chewier on the finish, which strongly echoes the citrus and mineral qualities. A classic rendition of this style.

The warm and dry 2007 Vintage resulted in lower yields in the vineyard, and earlier development of zesty Semillon characters. Harvesting was timed to achieve the most positive varietal distinction while also preserving the fine, elegant acidity: these being the hallmarks of the classic Hunter style.
