Winemaker's Notes:
The hedonism of these wine comes from the pure pleasure of sipping this delightfully approachable Shiraz from the Winterfold vineyard, located in the hills above Willunga in the southern, more ocean-cooled sector of McLaren Vale.
This wine is beautifully balanced for current drinking. A quarter of the must was run off to finish fermentation in New French oak barrels, supplemented by 30% one year old barrels.
In the 2005 vintage, McLaren Vale had a milder-than-usual summer with few days of extreme temperatures, resulting in an excellent, even ripening period. As a result, the Hedonist Shiraz is full of deep black fruits, with notes of espresso and chocolate. The wine is full in mouth leading to a lingering finish of luscious blackberry.

Strong colour; powerful regional blackberry, dark chocolate, warm vanilla oak and soft tannins; indeed, the pig satisfied.
