Winemaker's Notes:
Known for its recent explosion in winemaking innovation, the Colchagua Valley has an ideal climate for producing red wines. The valley’s warm, dry summers allow ample time for grapes to ripen, creating a smooth, fruity character to its wines. The 2004 harvest can be characterized by the absence of rains up until late fall and regular temperatures during the growing season. In turn, the winemakers were able to have close control per hectare.
The grapes for the Gold Assemblage Syrah are all hand-picked from Estampa’s estate vineyards, where the first vines were planted in 1996 at a density of 2,700 plants per hectare. All the vines have been trained to vertical shoot positioned trellis and are carefully maintained with drip irrigation.
Color:
Deep, concentrated garnet-red.
Aromas:
The aroma is accented by black fruit, reminiscent of blackberry marmalade, as well as
earthy and spicy notes.
Flavors:
This full-bodied wine has excellent structure that fuses the dense tannins with the toasted
vanilla notes which are the result of barrel aging. A long finish with accents of caramel
and wild berries.
