93 Points.
This set of wines (all 100% Tempranillo) from Cillar de Silos located in Ribera del Duero is impressive from top to bottom. The 2004 Torresilos takes it to another level. This 100% Tempranillo is sourced from estate vineyards averaging 60-80 years of age and is barrel fermented and aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak before being bottled unfiltered. Saturated purple in color, it boasts an expressive nose of spice, pepper, smoke, cherry and blackberry. This remarkably concentrated wine has a supple texture, layers of ripe blue and black fruit flavors, terrific focus, and a long, pure finish. There is enough structure to support several years of additional bottle age before drinking it over the following 10 years.
