Marlborough, New Zealand
Blocks is a new and exciting collaboration between a trio of established Marlborough winegrowers and a talented international winemaker.
Our name and label seeks to reflect our philosophy of growing and winemaking. Only the best fruit from the best vineyards, selected to display the best of the region. But they also symbolize the people behind our company. Different backgrounds, skills, experiences and abilities, coming together to build a new and exciting venture.
Leading our growers are industry stalwarts Kevin Higgs, Chris Hagen and Graeme Wallace. This trio, have had their collective gumboots in Marlborough's vineyards since the wine region's birth. They bring with them a wealth of viticulture know-how and have done!
Our winemaker Robin Langton, studied postgraduate Oenology & Viticulture at Lincoln University, NZ and has worked many vintages in Marlborough. Internationally he has made wine in the USA, Australia, and France.
Our aim is to display the very best of Marlborough. Our wines should display purity of fruit, and be a benchmark for the region. Only the best grapes are selected, from all our vineyards, and hence we ensure a wine of the utmost quality. Each block is kept separate through the winemaking process, and only the best parcels are selected for blocks. Purity of fruit, good palate weight, concentration, and intensity of flavour, this is our goal. We want to display the pure characteristics of the variety and the region in which it is grown.
We use a modern winery and protective methods to preserve fruit quality and ensure optimum quality. —
Robin Langton
